mariic's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 9 days to Christmas... I haven’t written in so long, I almost do not know what to talk about. My wrist is all messed up, and the reason I have not written is it hurts to type. I get to go see the hand surgeon on Thursday and find out what kind of surgery this shall entail. Yuck. I hate this kind of stuff. I casually mentioned to my mom today that I may need her help, and her car, while I am recuperating. If they have to stabilize my wrist like I think, I will be doing everything one handed…which is difficult if you drive a stick. Hee hee…that could cause all sorts of problems. My grandmother will be in town tomorrow. I am so glad she will be here for Christmas, it is never the same without her. I was thinking recently about how lucky I am to have had as much time with my grandparents as I have. My mom’s parents got divorced when she was young, and both soon remarried. So I had two more grandparents than most. My step-grandfather was the first to pass away, when I was a teenager. I lost my step-grandmother “Mamma Rusty” about 8 years ago. Both of my mother’s parents are still alive, Grandmother, and Papa (who I had lunch with today). My dad’s mom “Mema” (she was really Olga, she was from Sweden, but we never called her by her name) pass away a couple of years ago, and my Granddad is still alive, he just remarried his high school sweetheart Sue, so I guess there is another grandparent, even though they live in Texas, and I have only met a few times, Sue is awesome and I definitely claim her! So really, I had all of my grandparents well into my 20s and three still in my 30s. I also knew my Grandmother’s mother; she passed away when I was about 10. I do not know anyone my age who can say that.
